Students‘ abilities will be developed to analyze key concepts of educational policy (analytical competence), to re-construct and critically evaluate educational norms (ethical competence) as well as to reflect upon their own educational notions and experiences (self-reflective competence)
Content/topics:
- Introduction in the Philosophy of Education with special regard to educational policy
topics like functions and aims of educational institutions, intrinsic and extrinsic goals of
education, educational justice, etc.
- Educational ideologies from an epistemological perspective.
- Interrelations between formal education and economy, state and family.
- Ethical issues in education like legitimacy of indoctrination, nationalism and
cosmopolitanism in education, school selection and allocation, pedagogical
responsibility etc.
