Inhalte/Themen:	Indigenous Literature in North America has experienced a veritable resurgence in the 21st century. In the past years, both the established novelist Louise Erdrich and the younger generation poet Natalie Diaz received Pulitzer Prices for their works, the current U.S. poet laureate is the Muskogee poet Joy Harjo, and the debut novel -There There- by Tommy Orange has made a major impact not only in the U.S. but globally as well. In this class, we want to talk about what characterizes this moment in Indigenous literary and media production in U.S. and Canada, what issues different authors and other cultural producers focus on right now and how this is connected to the long history of Indigenous cultural production in the settler colonial nation-states of U.S. and Canada. You will also have the chance to talk to the Chumash-Esselen author Deborah Miranda of -Bad Indians: A Tribal Memoir-. For this purpose we will move one session closer to the evening and switch to a hybrid format.
