In this course, students learn and practise

- the necessary language skills for business fluent English at level C1.

- the context-specific use of relevant vocabulary and linguistic structures

- basic knowledge of professional meeting management and negotiation skills

- a fair approach to constructive criticism through systematic self-reflection

- situationally and interculturally appropriate communication in mutual exchange
course content/topics:
- Development of English language skills in various aspects of meetings and negotiations, including preparation for and follow-up of such activities.
- Topics in focus include: networking, writing reports, emails and summaries, negotiating, preparing agendas, social media management, decision-making, brainstorming and teleconferencing.

The final grade is based on
- the quantity and quality of classroom contribution
- an exam covering theoretical and practical aspects of meetings & negotiations
- an oral exam in which students demonstrate their ability to hold a professional meeting/negotiation in English

Due to the competence orientation of the course, the combination of partial examinations is mandatory.

The Center for Business Languages at WFI focuses on the following goals: The improvement of productive and receptive skills, and especially the practice of so-called management skills at level B2+. The latter specifically refer to holding professional presentations, honing meeting techniques, and developing the ability to describe graphs and charts with the help of the appropriate linguistic tools and cultural conventions.
In accordance with the principle "test what you teach", students take oral and written exams for credit.
