Students learn to understand the basic idea and components of business models and are enabled to apply this knowledge to digital as well as sus-tainable businesses. Students get an understanding of different digital and sustainable business models in the business-to-consumer (B2C) and busi-ness-to-business context (B2B). They learn how these business models are developed, organized, and brought to market. They get an understand-ing of the success factors for digital business models, specifically regard-ing infrastructure (e.g., key activities, business partners), offering (e.g., value proposition), customers (e.g., customer segments and customer relationships), and financial structure (i.e., cost structure and revenue generation).
The adjunct tutorial contributes to gaining these learning outcomes. Stu-dents are enabled to critically reflect on specific topics presented during the lecture and related issues in a thorough manner. They learn to apply their knowledge to specific firms (both multinational enterprises and start-ups), using examples and mini cases from the real-world. Hereby, stu-dents are enabled to acquire new knowledge on their own. Further, they obtain the capability to transfer theoretical concepts from the lecture to managerial problems by discussing business cases.
